For 127 years the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge railroad has plied the Animas River Canyon bringing passengers, stock and untold wealth deep out of the remote heart of the San Juan Mountains. Join us for a unique weekend where we relive the sights and sounds of yesteryear in an unforgettable journey on this historic train with the backdrop of Colorado’s dazzlingly colorful fall foliage.

Join your instructor Jim Steinberg on Friday evening in Durango staying at The Strater Hotel, steps from our train. Built in 1887 this downtown landmark is now listed with the Historic Hotels of America. Saturday morning will find us concentrating our efforts on run-bys on the northbound trip to Silverton allowing us to de-board before the train backs up and out of sight. With 2 whistle blasts, the train will advance and come steaming past our cameras. We will also have the chance to photograph northbound trains.
